Startup Quest® entrepreneurial training program is part of a $12M state-wide grant from the U.S. Dept. of Labor to train people with college degrees to become entrepreneurs and educate them about opportunities to commercialize technologies developed at Florida’s public universities and federal laboratories. Through an intensive 10-week training course led by experienced entrepreneurs and startup mentors, participants develop a go-to-market plan for a real technology selected by the mentors and approved by the various tech-transfer offices.
The training will culminate in a venture pitch competition in front of real world investor judges. Training participants should have a college degree and experience in business, engineering, physical sciences, social/behavioral sciences, marketing finance, management, research, public relations or a related area. To be eligible, a participant must be unemployed or underemployed, legally able to work in the US; a male whose date of birth falls after December 31, 1959 must additionally meet Selective Service registration requirements.
CareerSource Broward will be working with successful local entrepreneurs, Offices of Technology Transfer, chambers of commerce, economic development corporations, and educators to implement the program. The Introductory Workshop will take place on July 31, 2015. Click here for more information and to view a brief video of the program. If you have any questions regarding the program please email [email protected]. Applications for the program are currently being accepted and can be downloaded here.
Not all eligible applicants will be selected for this program. Participants will be randomly selected from among eligible applicants.
Startup Quest® is part of an evaluation study funded by the U.S. Department of Labor. Participants will be selected from among eligible applicants. Data collected will remain confidential and will used for statistical purposes only. Startup Quest® is an equal opportunity program. Auxiliary aids and services are available upon request to individuals with disabilities.
